Tooth-borne

  • Supply a full-arch polyvinyl impression OR
  • A full-arch stone model with no chips or bubbles OR
  • An STL file of digital scan
  • Opposing model required if detailed treatment planning of temporary or final prosthetic required

Edentulous

  • Patient needs dentures with NO metal
  • Denture must be relined if fit is not good
  • Fit of guide will be the same as the fit of the denture

Supply an uncompressed DICOM file of your CBCT scan

  • Full-arch scan in all cases
  • Full-arch scan – scan voxel size does not matter
  • Incisal edges captured – do not cut off cusp tips
  • No patient movement – do NOT submit a blurry scan
  • Scan patient with teeth separated (not in occlusion) – use a bite block or cotton roll

Protocols for CBCT

Non-edentulous

  • Full-arch scan – scan voxel size does not matter
  • Incisal edges captured – do not cut off cusp tips
  • No patient movement – do NOT submit a blurry scan
  • Scan patient with teeth separated (not in occlusion) – use a bite block or cotton roll

Edentulous

  • A dual-scan technique is required for edentulous guides
  • In order to prepare the denture, 6-8 round radiopaque markers should be placed on the surface of each denture. These markers should be 2mm in diameter, and should be spread out around the buccal and lingual/palatal of the denture.
  • Scan the patient wearing the marked denture.
  • Denture should be fully seated on the patient’s gingiva. There should be no black air space between the denture and the gingiva. If there is black air space, redo the scan, or consider relining the denture, and then re-doing the scan.
  • Don’t do soft relines if possible.
  • Scan the marked denture by itself. Use a much lower kV and mA setting to scan the denture.
  • Put the denture on a radiolucent foam base for scanning.
  • Make sure you capture the full denture in the scan.

Once we have received your order, models and CBCT scan, we will prepare all the data and schedule an online 30 minute treatment planning session with you.

We will print the guide and ship it to you within 72 hours of the treatment planning sign off.
